Bolba Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Gorin and Tumnin zones of westernmost Sikhote-Alin. "The Bolbinsk Formation was first distinguished and described by B.Ya. Abramson in 1956 on the right bank of the Amur River, in the area of the Bolbinsk Cliff (between Tsimmermanovka and Sofiiskoe villages." (quoted from Alexey Yu. Martynov et al., 2019. Lateral Zonality of the East Sikhote-Alin Volcanic Belt: Geodynamic Regime in the Late Cretaceous. Russian Journal of Pacific Geology, 13: 265-282.)
Synonym: Bolbinsk Fm.
Lithology and Thickness
"In the stratotype section, the base of the Bolbinsk Formation is made up of tuff conglomerates intercalated with tuffstones, andesite tuffs, and tuffites, 20.6 m thick. Upsection, they grade into andesite flows separated by numerous horizons of volcanosedimentary rocks: tuff conglomerates and tuffstones. The total thickness of the formation is estimated to be 400 m." (quoted from Alexey Yu. Martynov et al., 2019. Lateral Zonality of the East Sikhote-Alin Volcanic Belt: Geodynamic Regime in the Late Cretaceous. Russian Journal of Pacific Geology, 13: 265-282.)
